Joe was born on the 28th of September 1919, and passed away on Monday, the 6th of November 2017. He was especially proud of his service in the Army Air Corps during WW ll. After discharge in 1945 he met and married the beautiful Rose Sacre in San Antonio. Joe along with his brothers Albert and Harry and their beloved father, Jim, founded Jim Jamail and Sons Food Market in 1946. Their store was celebrated all over the United States and as their clientele traveled the world became known in Europe and the Middle East as well.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rose; son, Gary; grandson, Chuck; parents, Jim and Mary; siblings, Albert and Harry Jamail and Elizabeth Yamin. He is survived by sons, Jim and wife, Kathy; Larry; Doug; Robert and wife, Monetta; Jody and partner, Laurie; daughter, Mary Beth; sister, Marian Averyt; 29 grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock this evening Thursday, the 9th of November, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. The recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at seven o’clock.
The funeral mass is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 10th of November, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Drive in Houston, where the Rev. Andrew Meiners, Parochial Vicar, is to serve as celebrant. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held at a venue to be announced during the service.
The Rite of Committal is to be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 11th of November, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions, in Joe’s memory, may be directed to St Thomas High School, 4500 Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77007; or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
