Joe Hernandez of Houston, TX , passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020. Joe was born on May 6, 1936, to Juana and Porfirio Hernandez. He married the love of his life Gloria Garcia on June 25, 1960. He attended Jeff Davis High School. Joe worked as a butcher for many years which led him to eventually open Joe’s Deli in the late 80’s. He was known as “Mr. Joe” to all his loyal customers. He greeted them every day with a broad smile. His jovial personality was contagious to anyone who met him. Joe loved to travel. He took various road trips around the U.S with his wife and children. He also loved traveling abroad, especially Mexico, where he enjoyed the culture and food. Most of all, he was the happiest man in the world when he was surrounded by his family enjoying good food and lots of laughter.
In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his beloved wife Gloria and his brothers Homer Hernandez, Fred Hernandez and Raymond Hernandez.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in- law, Joseph and Alma Hernandez; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Julia Hernandez ; son Richard Hernandez; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Sonya Hernandez and daughter and son-in-law Bernadette and Noe Zamora; his grandchildren, Richard Hernandez Jr., Kristina Hernandez, Joseph Hernandez, Joshua Hernandez, Michael Hernandez, Daniel Hernandez, Alexandra Hernandez, Andrew Hernandez, Gabriella Hernandez, Isabella Zamora, Ryan Hernandez, Victor Zamora, Stephen Hernandez and Nicolas Zamora and great grandchildren, Johnny Hernandez, Valerie Hernandez, Mia Hernandez, Zadie Hernandez, JP Hernandez, Giselle Hernandez and Cecilia Hernandez.
