Joe Hernandez Jr.

Joe Hernandez, Jr. a loving husband, father, and grandfather was born April 13, 1945 in Houston, Texas to Joe Hernandez, Sr. and Concepcion Segura, passed away on June 4, 2024. He was the jokester of the family with a great sense of humor and never had a straight face; he was a hardworking man who loved his family. He was a man of few words but always wanted the best for his children and grandchildren. He served in the United States Army and retired from MD Anderson Hospital.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Concepcion Hernandez.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Stella Olivas; children, Alfred Hernandez (Mary Ann); Javier Hernandez (La Shawn); Monica Garcia (Jose); Kristen Brunck (Brian); grandchildren, Melissa Marie Garcia, Roberto De Jesus Garcia, Laura Jean Garcia, Rosalie Hernandez, Vito Hernandez, Jazen Hernandez, Alexandra Hernandez, Taylor Hernandez, Aracely Kane, Barbara Ann Hernandez, Maria Elena Guerrero, Ellisa Vicky Guerrero, Javier Guerrero, Jr. and Jerry Brunck; along with 1 great-granddaughter, Aria Rose Kane. Joe also has 2 brothers (Richard and Jesse) and 1 sister (Maria).

Serving as pallbearers will be Javier Hernandez, Jose De Jesus Garcia, Roberto Garcia, Vito Hernandez, Jazen Hernandez, Adam Kane, John Nava, and Joseph Cao.

Honorary pallbearers: Melissa Marie Garcia, Laura Jean Garcia, Rosalie Hernandez, and Aracely Kane.

A visitation for Joe will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo, 4136 Broadway St. Houston, Texas 77087. A rosary service will occur Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, 4136 Broadway St. Houston, Texas 77087. A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 4136 Broadway St. Houston, Texas 77087. A graveside service will occur Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 1:00 PM in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale St, Houston, Texas 77023.
