Joe R. Chavez of Houston, Texas passed away on March 3, 2020 at the age of 71. Born to Casimira Ramirez and Nester Chavez on December 18, 1948. Joe (Yoyo) was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He had a brave heart and a courageous spirit. He modeled this for his family and friends in all that he did. Staff Sargent Joe R. Chavez served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1975. Joe R. Chavez was a proud Vietnam Veteran that served with the 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines. The 2/1 Marines is a brotherhood that still exist as demonstrated today. He continued his service by volunteering at the V.A. Hospital, the Elks Lodge 151, American Legion, Tejano Veterans Association, and many more organizations.
Jose Chavez was a successful entrepreneur and opened JC’s Reproductions Inc., in 1972. JC’s Reproductions was a blueprint company that serviced the oil and gas industry in the Houston area for 33 years. This endeavor was a success with the support and dedication of his parents and siblings.
His memory will always be kept alive by his adoring wife of 22 years, Judy Chavez; His children Walter, Daniel, Jolynn, and Monica; his grandchildren Savanna, Danielle, Freddy Jr., Emma, Patrick, Thomas, Annie Lou, Ricardo, Jessica, Leslie, Andy, and Eric; he loved and cared for his siblings Ernest Chavez, Juan Chavez, Nester Chavez, Mary Mungia and Frank Chavez; his nephews and nieces and many friends.
