This is the story of Joan Malin. Joan was a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Maw-Maw as she liked to be called by her grandchildren; Joanie Bony as she was called by many in the family, was an amazing mom, daughter, sister, cousin & friend.
Joan’s story begins on September 1, 1958 the 3rd child to Carl & Martha Bauer. Joan was born in Altus, OK where her father was stationed with the United States Air Force. Soon after Joan was born Carl & Martha moved back to their hometown of Houston, TX so they could receive medical care through the Shriners for their baby girl. Joan would spend the next 6 years going through multiple surgeries until they moved to Holland for 2 years, then to Germany before moving back to Houston in 1970. She went on to marry and have 3 children. She then started a career as a licensed property tax appraiser. She retired from Orange County Appraisal District in 2014. After she retired, she continued working for several other county appraisal districts.
After putting up a long battle with her health, Jesus called her home February 9, 2021. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Hans & Delma Bauer, Frank & Viola Berg, brother Don Bauer & grandson Kagen Malin, She is survived by her parents Carl & Martha Bauer of Houston, her children Misty Warner & husband Gary of Mauriceville, Paul Malin & his wife Courtney of Orange, Shelly Merchant & her husband Shannon of Bridge City, Grandchildren, Clint Jordan, Kyle Warner, Devin Malin, Chloe Malin, Kandice Corn, Dillan Richardson, Dawson Dorion and Hannah Burns, brother Jack Bauer & his wife Debbie of Hockley, Sister Vivian Riley and her husband Jim of Cypress, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The most important thing to Joan was her family. She always said “Family Comes First.” She Loved to cook and bake for her family. One of her most requested desserts was her “Apple Pie”.
She also loved to watch I Love Lucy & Golden Girls, sitting by her pool, going to the beach, and her dogs Buck & Lucy who she named after Lucille Ball.
