Jo Ann Strickler

Jo Ann Strickler, 81, of Dickinson, Texas, passed away on December 22, 2013. She was born in Barnsdall, OK to Lester Paul and Anna Crystal Blankenship on January 1, 1932. Her family moved to Houston when she was a teenager and she went to Reagan High School where she was a Reagan Red Coat. She was an avid college sports fan and loved to watch the Texas A&M Aggies. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles and John Wayne movies. In her later years she spent time observing wildlife with her son and grandchildren and spending time with her grand dogs Cabo & Zuppa. Jo Ann was a member of the Lakewood Yacht Club and cruised to the Bahamas on 3 different occasions. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Marcus Reeves Strickler. Left behind to cherish her memory are her children Paul Dale Strickler and wife Mary, Marcus Burdette Strickler, and Susanne Gann and husband John Christopher, grandsons Marcus Reeves Strickler, Jakob Dale Strickler, Jordan Grant Gann and Dustin Chad Gann as well as her sister Martha Groth and her husband Steve. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Texas A&M Cushing Library for the Chair program or to the SPCA. A visitation will take place on Saturday December 28, 2013 from 9-11am and a funeral service will follow at 11 am at Forest Park Lawndale.
