Jimmy Lee Soliz, age 59, of South Houston, Texas, was invited home by our Lord on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Jimmy was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 25, 1962, to Guadalupe and Johnny Soliz. Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, Johnny Lee Soliz and son, Johnny Lee Soliz.
Jimmy graduated from South Houston High School in 1981 enlisting a few months later in the United States Navy. Jim proudly completed his tour as a US Naval Quartermaster, serving as a helmsman, performing ship control, navigation and ship watch duties earning an honorable discharge in July 1986. After several employment endeavors, Jim found his niche with the city of South Houston, where he joined the ranks of city employees, using his skills to earn his promotion to water operator for the City, never missing a single day of work from 2016 to the date of his passing on January 25th.
A big fan of the Washington Red Skins, Jimmy's interests included football, honing his mechanic skills working on his truck. Jimmy was an avid reader, enjoyed good music in the company of good friends and great food (barbecue was his preference) and always looked forward to gatherings where he could enjoy time with his friends and family. Jim was well known for bringing the smiles to faces of those he was around and could be counted on for adding that “extra life and energy” to any party or gathering he attended.
