Jimmy was born on May 23, 1935, to Joe Casas and Beatrice Trevino in Houston, Texas. He was the oldest sibling of three along with his two baby sisters Virgina and Charlene. After Jimmy graduated from Milby Senior High in 1954, he went to study as an architectural draftsman at the University of Houston.
In 1957, Jimmy met the love of his life Tavita Casas at a wedding they both stood in. The bride was Tavita’s cousin and groom Jimmy’s best friend. After 3 years, he proposed and they got married on May 15, 1960. Jimmy and Tavita then went on to have their one and only child, Michelle Anne Casas.
His first job was as a shoe shiner at the age of 11. He did work other miscellaneous jobs until he started his long-term career at Oshman's Sporting Goods. Jimmy started in the shoe department until he was soon promoted to shoe department manager until the company was sold to Sports Authority in 2005. Then he was made the Lead salesman until Sports Authority filed bankruptcy in 2016 and he was forced to retire after working more than 50 years at the company.
After retirement, he spent most of his time with his wife Tavita and his family traveling and doing his favorite thing; going out to eat. He also enjoyed reading his bible, newspaper, and many other books. When he was home he would be working outside in the yard or watching sports especially his favorite team the Houston Astros.
Jimmy was a husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He touched so many lives with his kind heart and generous nature. He loved everyone and was loved by so many. He will be deeply missed.
