Jimmie Ray Bryson, 80, of Pearland, Texas, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2025, in Houston, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Garden Oaks Funeral Home, located at 13430 Bellaire Blvd., Houston, Texas 77083. Funeral services will follow from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the same location, with Pastor Bryan Clements of First Baptist Church of Jacinto City officiating. Burial will take place at 2:15 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77038.
Jimmie was born in Houston, Texas, to John and Julia Bryson on October 22, 1944. He married his beloved wife, Melody, on April 22, 1972, in Houston, and they were just shy of celebrating 53 years of marriage. Jimmie worked as a machinist for Southwest Oilfield for 48 years, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Jimmie served honorably in the United States Army. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia Bryson; his brother, Billy Bryson; his sisters, Dorothy Sanders, Bertha Walton, and Katherine “Maggie” Sullivan; and his daughter, Mia.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Melody Bryson; his daughter, Sherry, and son-in-law, Daniel; his son, John, and daughter-in-law, Cindy Bryson, along with their children, Zachary and Chloe; and his daughter, Meagan, and her fiancé, Marvin. Jimmie was the proud grandfather of eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jackie, and sister-in-law, Evelyn, as well as several nieces and nephews, including his one “favorite” nephew and one “favorite” niece.
