Jim Hott of Houston peacefully passed away September 1, 2011 after living a full and abundant life. He was a devoted family man and will be deeply missed by his daughter, Lisa Stockard and husband Greg, their two sons; Travis and Hunter, granddaughter, Ashley Hott Rolland, son-in-law, Buck Matthews, sister-in-law, Frances Carr, nieces; Katie Griffee, Melanie Hinten, Phyllis Wilson, Jan Smith, Candice Howell, Carol Owens and Gayle Steiner. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, son Bruce and daughter Linda.
Jim was born October 1, 1924 and grew up in a loving family in Clarendon, TX. After Jr. College, he served in the US Army and then moved to Houston. He married the love of his life, Donna Coker and they enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Together they traveled the world. Jim was a successful businessman starting and running Aluma- Craft Corp for 36 years. He also served on the Board of Directors for First National Bank of Bellaire for 19 years. Much of his time was dedicated to volunteer work. As a lifetime Director of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo he served on various committees including chairing of the International Committee. He was a lifetime member of the Farm and Ranch Club, Rotary Club, 100 Club and the Republican National Committee. He cherished his 43 years as a member of the Tejas Vaqueros. He also enjoyed being an active member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. One of his favorite pastimes was his farm in Simonton, TX.
Honorary Pallbearers are Buck Matthews, Johnnie Edwards and Don Todd. Active Pallbearers are Greg Stockard, Travis Stockard, Hunter Stockard, Mike Cook, Dan Owen and Chris Black.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 3:00pm with a visitation held one hour prior at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the HLSR, www.hlsr.com or MDPC, www.mdpc2.org/cms.
