Jessie Pearl Franklin Greer was born May 23, 1940 to Jesse Lee Franklin and Mattie Pearl Robinson. She was the eldest of seven children. She was reared in the church and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior early in life. She was a graduate of Dunbar High School in Mexia, Texas where she was a dedicated student and the drum major of the marching band. After high school, she obtained her cosmetology license from Franklin Beauty School in Houston, Texas. She continued on in this field and obtained her instructor licensure from Prairie View A&M University. She met and married the love of her life, the late Reverend Louis James Greer. She then began her entrepreneurship in the cosmetology profession. After moving to Houston, she served as the director of Anchor House Community Center of the Texas Annual Conference. After retirement, she later worked in retail sales. After serving numerous appointments in the United Methodist Church at her husband’s side, Jessie remained an active member at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church.
