OBITUARY Jessie Bell was born to Ellen Mae Smith and Mack E. Brooks June 9, 1926 in Tenaha, Texas. Later her parents move to Brookeland, Texas, where she was the oldest daughter of nine children: Lester (deceased), Bethena, Chester (deceased), Alberta, Jessie Lee, Charles E. (deceased), John Mark (deceased), and Betty Mae (deceased) Jessie Bell accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of the living God. She met, moved to Houston, and soon after married on February 15, 1946, the love of her life of 46 years Graham E. Thomas, who preceded her in death. She was a proud mother of 7 sons, 6 daughters: Zula Mae (deceased) Georgia Rae, Milton Wayne (deceased), Murilan E. (deceased), Gracie Marie, Carl James (deceased), Glen Rodgers (deceased), Gloria Ann, Cherous Wayne, Sylvia Paulette, Dennis Leon, Beverly Ann, Tony Louis, 1 step-daughter Vera Mae (deceased), 30 Grandchildren, 57 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great-Grandchild. Over her life she also enjoyed in her presence, 5 Daughter-in-Laws, 7 Son-in-Laws, a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other Family members and everyone she ever met in life was her dear Friend. Jessie Bell, retired from the Houston Independent School District after 23 years of service where she cared, counseled, taught and assisted over the years thousands of children she called her own. During her 29 years of retirement, her fondest event was her 91th Birthday Block Party. Her best talent was building loving and forgiving relationships, by making each and every one of us feel as we were the only one in her life.
