Jesse G. Reyes Sr.

Jesse was a veteran of the Army during WWII; Company C, 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division. He was a member of VFW post 581, past President of Holy Name Society, and member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2971. He was an artist that enjoyed singing, sculpting, writing, and poetry. By trade Jesse was a shoe repairman, then for over 50 years an Orthopedic Brace Maker, beginning at the Eagle Brace Shop, as well as the Shriners Hospital. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Lindale Park Fourth of July Parade. Jesse was a father, brother, husband, and grandfather. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Jesse” or “Popo”.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 65 years, Frances Reyes; siblings, Isabel Ramirez, Rudy Reyes, and William Reyes. Jesse is survived by his sons, Jesse Reyes, Jr. & wife Carmen, and Ed Reyes & wife Belinda; grandchildren, Tracy Squires & husband Bill, Jesse G. Reyes III, and Lauren Reyes; sister, Mary Alice Sanchez; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers for the funeral service will be Joe William Reyes, Gilbert Garcia, Bill Squires, Rudy Reyes, and Jesse G. Reyes III.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Heights Funeral Home from 5-8 PM, with the Rosary being recited at 7 PM. The Catholic Funeral Mass will be held the following morning at 10 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4918 Cochran St. Interment will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 1 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr.

His favorite serenade to the love of his life, Frances, was “It Had to be You”.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to St. Patrick’s Holy Name Society in his name.
