Although life separated us, one day we will be reunited again in the presence of our Lord. Thank you for your love and the life we had together  these years. Your loving wife.

There was a time in my life, after the passing of my mother, and with the overwhelming grief, we were all spinning around, that Uncle Jessie came again and again to visit. He came over to check up on us as my dad worked long hours.

Many times he came over just having washed his car. I loved his Oldsmobile. He'd pull-up in the driveway at Aldon Street and have me come out to help him dry it off.

He also took me to the Astrodome to watch the Astros. We always sat in the outfield and I borrowed my brother's binoculars to get a closer look at the pitcher and batter. I loved hearing the loud pop of the catcher's mitt on a fastball or the crack of the bat on a hard hit ball. It was fun to notice the sound about a second after seeing the action from that distance.

He bought me popcorn and sodas and patiently listened to me ramble on about Jimmy the "Toy Cannon" Wynn, Doug the "Red Rooster" Rader or a young star named Larry Dierker.

It was there that he sent me to get popcorn and upon my return saw what had to be the longest home run ever hit in the Astrodome. As I was heading back the roar of the crowd ignited with the crack of the bat and I watched a ball hit by Jimmy Wynn fly high over the pavilion (the outfield seats) and onto the concourse before it hit the floor. Home runs were not measured in those days but that had to be well over 500 ft. I could only watch in amazement as the scramble for the ball bounded around. I went on about it for the rest of the game.

Uncle Jesse just smiled and listened.

I will forever remember Uncle Jesse with baseball.

No doubt the brothers are gathering around, now complete. The sisters are there watching as a game of dominoes begins and Uncle Jesse is dealt his hand.

This is not just an end of a generation; it is the end of our great generation.

We honor Uncle Jesse and in turn we also must give tribute to our parents, our uncles, our aunts. Home at last. Well done good and faithful servants. May we, who come behind you, remain faithful.

Larry, I am sorry for the loss of your Dad. You and your family will be in my prayers as you go through this time of sorrow. I hope you will take the time to reflect on the good times you spent together with him to help this sad time pass. On behalf of your friends and co-workers at NHPL we send our condolences.

Dear Larry, know that I am here for you and always have been, on behalf of my sister, Rosie. I am just a phone call away. 
Condolences to Jesse's loved ones. I appreciate his children for keeping in close contact with their dad. There are not many like you. I pray for the peace and comfort of God Almighty for each of you, during this trying time.
