

Jerry Joe Oliver was born in Beaumont, Texas to Manuel and Thelma Oliver on January 13, 1951 He was baptized at age 7 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. Jerry maintained a love for God, belief in Him and respect for the Bible. He was educated in the Beaumont Independent School District and graduated from Hebert High School in 1969. He continued his education at Houston Community College and earned a certificate in automotive mechanics in 1980. After high school graduation, Jerry served his country in the United States Air Force four years. He met the love of his life, Evelyn Jean while stationed in Lompoc, California. They were married August 2, 1974 in Lompoc and made Houston, TX their home. Jerry and Evelyn have two beautiful daughters, Kenya LaRhonda and Ebony Nicole. Jerry was employed with the US Postal Service for many years. Jerry was a man of impeccable tastes as characterized by his manner of dress, his healthy lifestyle and charming character. Jerry was very outgoing and enjoyed jogging, tennis, dancing, traveling, reading and a lively conversation. He taught dance classes at Ballroom 7 and was affiliated with Dance Fusion USA. Jerry was an avid tennis player. He loved working in his yard. Neighbors admired "Mr. Jerry" for his immaculate landscape. After a brief battle with pancreatic cancer, Jerry fell asleep in death , now awaiting God's promised resurrection. Jerry was preceded by his mother, Thelma Oliver, father, Manuel Oliver and brother, Allen Curtis Oliver. Jerry's cherished memory lives on through his wife of 39 years, Evelyn and his daughters, Kenya (Keith) Williams and Ebony Oliver of Houston, Texas. His mother, Clara Oliver and siblings James Oliver, Dallas, Texas; Robert (Judy) Oliver, Arlington, Texas; Doris Madden and Nancy Oliver, San Diego California; Beverly Oliver, Rodney Oliver, Miechee ( Steven) Wyckoff, Martha (William) Bostic, Rowena Jackson, Beaumont, Texas; Gregory (Claudia) Oliver of Houston, Texas; Christi (Jessie) Bowie, Austin, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends from dance, tennis, the Postal Service and neighbors.
