Mr. Lewis spent most of his career as an engineer for M & H Energy Services in Houston. He worked until the time of his cancer diagnoses in November 2012.
Jerry was born in Delano, California July 28, 1947 to Leamon Elsie and Ima LaVerne (Harrell) Lewis and was raised to adulthood in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area.
He graduated high school in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 1965 and was an active alumni member. He received an associated math degree following high school.
Jerry served active duty in the Marine Corp. from March 1969 to March 1971 and was in the reserves until March 1975.
While serving in the military he earned the rank Cpl. Jerry Dale Lewis, received the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, the National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
He was laid to rest on May 6, 2013 in the Houston National Cemetery.
Jerry's first marriage was to Jan McAdams, October 5, 1968 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They have three grown children: Ron Lewis (wife, Amy) Broken Arrow, OK.; Kim Lewis Black (husband, Jason) of Broken Arrow, OK. and Robert Lewis (wife, April) of Independence, KS.
Jerry and Christine Stein Lewis (born and raised in Parsons, Kansas) were married in Bakersfield, California September 5, 1978. At that time, Jerry included two step-children that are now grown: Laura Brewer Hendrix of Carrollton, Texas and Marcus Brewer of Denver, Colorado. In 1986, Jerry and Christine gave birth to their son, James Daniel Lewis (wife, Danyelle) of Richmond, Texas.
Jerry is survived by his wife Christine in Houston, Texas, his 6 grown children and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Verlene Reed. His living brothers and sisters are: Helen Henningsen (husband, Jerry) of Coweta, OK.; Gary Lewis of Coweta, OK.; Virginia Covington (husband, Raymond) of Chelsea, OK. and Gerald Lewis (wife, Maryellen) of Wheatland, CA.
Jerry Lewis lived an active life. He was honest, good and helpful to others. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
