On October 11, 1952 Jerry was born to the parents of the late Clarence and Henrietta Lee
who proceeded him in death, a brother Robert Glenn Lee and a step father, Johnny Benjamin Boyd who proceeded him in death also. He was the youngest of five children.
His first marriage with that union there was one son Kelby Lee and one grandson, Kenya Lee both of Houston, Texas there was also a stepdaughter Shanta Mauney of Houston, Texas.
Jerry met Mary Brooks in 2001 and they united in marriage in 2003. With this marriage there was one stepson Jay Davis, Jr. and one grandson Jeremy Davis both of Houston, Texas.
Jerry claimed to be a “Jack of all Trades” and a master too, and indeed he was. His initial vision was to become a craftsman in woodwork. For several years he made some of the finest woodwork items to be placed inside of one's home. He later decided to do woodwork part time after being hired as a Houston Independent School Supply Deliver for several years. Thereafter, he entered into the logistic job arena where he stocked and loaded items to be distributed locally and throughout the United States and aboard.
As time moved on, his health declined and he was rendered 100% disabled. He then looked for something else to do. When he was a boy his stepfather on weekends took him and his brothers along with him to do large residential landscaping jobs to include grass cutting and trimming/planting scrubs trimming trees, etc. Little did he know after retirement his passion would become landscaping, beautification at home. He kept his yard so beautiful that his neighbors, visitors and people driving by would pause to compliment him on a job well done. This gave him pride and made time go by quickly. He was a church going man he went to Sunday School and Worship service weekly at First Christian Baptist Church Houston, Texas every Sunday and transported the elderly to church when there was a need, The Late Pastor D. King saw something in him that led him to become an usher as well assisting the deacons with church devotion, upkeep of the church structures/grounds and as member of many church
committees and events.
In God's care he leaves to cherish His memories;
His wife Mary Brooks Lee; son Kelby Lee, stepson Jay Davis, Jr.; stepdaughter Shanta Mauney two grandsons Kenya Lee and Jeremy Davis; s isters Louise Williams, Colfax, LA, Annie Bell Ross, Houston, TX, stepsister Ruby A. Lee, Detroit, MI and Brother Clarence Lee Jr., San Antonio, TX.
A host of relatives and friends that loved him dearly. He was funny and loveable at the same time. He knew God for himself and many times he said “when God calls me I am not afraid to go”.
