Jerald E. Graves went to be with the Lord July 22, 2012. Jerry was born on May 31, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa and was raised in Salem, Oregon. While serving in the United States Air Force in Waco, Texas, he met the woman he would marry and with whom he would spend the rest of his life. After he was married, Jerry was transferred to Korea to serve in the 36th Fighter Bomber Squadron during the Korean War. When the Armistice Agreement was signed, he participated in the repatriation of American and allied prisoners of war in 1953. Upon his discharge, he and his wife returned to Texas from Portland, Oregon, where Jerry attended the University of Houston and graduated in 1958. He was a homebuilder in the Houston area for several years and later formed Jerald E. Graves & Associates, Inc., performing compliance inspections for new construction, serving many builders and government programs until his retirement. He was a Deacon of Bear Creek Baptist Church in Katy, Texas. Jerry loved the Lord. He never met a stranger and wanted everyone to have the same peace and confidence that he had found in Jesus. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Doris, of 59 years; son Michael Graves and wife Donna of Katy, Texas; Daughter Caron English and husband Jeff of Kyle, Texas. Three grandchildren; Lauren Graves, Aaron English, and Sarah English. Two brothers; Don Graves and Kenneth Graves and wife Kathy of Oregon. Many nieces and nephews. Services to be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, with Pastor David Welch of Bear Creek Baptist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, Jerry desires donations be made to Bear Creek Baptist Church, 5901 Fry Rd, Katy, Texas 77449 (281-859-9900). Visitation will be Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 5-8pm and services will be Friday, July 27, 2012 at 2pm in the chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
