She was able to light up a room whenever she walked in. Her bright smile and bubbly personality made everyone smile. She loved cooking for her family more than anything. Whether it was a dinner at home or a big Holiday meal, she made sure everyone had plenty to eat. She was known for making the most beautiful and most delicious cakes around. She was the youngest of 11 and truly valued spending time with her family. She loved to fish and be anywhere near the water. Jennie was a member of the Ladies of the Sacred Heart Society of West Little York and spent many years volunteering her time making cookies and cakes for the St. Joseph Table. She spent many Thursdays with the Society ladies enjoying an Italian pasta lunch. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her two children, Pete Cornell Long and Candy Winter; daughter in law, Kathy Long; grandchildren, Pete Cornell Long, Jr., James Long and Ashley Reidy; their spouses Nicole Long, Misty Long and Kevin Reidy; great grandchildren, Clay, Isabella, Emilee, Frankie, Bryce and Peter, as well as many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews. Jennie is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Long, Jr. and her son in law, David Winter.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Earthman Funeral Directors, Hunters Creek Chapel, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. The Gravesite service will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023, at 10:00 AM. There will be a police escorted procession departing Earthman to Forest Park Cemetery on Tuesday morning at 9:15 AM.
