Jean Pless, 88, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, September 15, 2018. She was born April 27, 1930 in Paris, Texas to parents Acie and Julia Drake. Jean was the baby of seven siblings. After graduating from Paris High School, she moved to Houston and shared a room with her sister Maudina at a boarding house. Here in Houston, she met Floyd Pless, who became her husband for 68 years. Jean was a long-time member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She loved to dance and party, and had a passion for Mexican food and a good margarita.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, and six siblings. Left to cherish her memory are husband, Floyd Pless; daughter, Shelley Blattel and husband Steve; granddaughters: Lindsay Blattel, and Stacey Gatlin and husband Beau; great-granddaughters: Harper, Lucy, and Felicity; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
The family would like to say thank you to the staff of Memorial City Health & Rehabilitation for all the care they provided to Jean.
A visitation will be held at 11:30 am with funeral service at 12:30pm on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. Interment will immediately follow in Brookside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jean’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
