Frances Jean (Pigott) Perkins, age 78, passed away Oct. 12, 2011 in Houston, TX. Jean was born in Magnolia, MS and graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in 1954 with a degree in music. She later obtained a master’s degree in education from University of Houston. Her 47-year career as a teacher began in House Springs, MO and included schools in Aschauffenburg, Germany and HISD, ending with her retirement from River Oaks Baptist School in 2001. Jean loved gardening and served as an officer in the Lynn Park Garden Club. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert Delman Perkins, Jr; son, Robert D. Perkins, III and wife Mary Joanna Lyman; grandsons, John Perkins and Matthew Perkins; brothers, Joe Pigott and Arthur Pigott and their families. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, Oct. 14 at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. A memorial service will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Oct. 15 at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, 2450 River Oaks Blvd, Houston, TX 77019. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean’s name to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
