In Hong Kong she attended Maryknoll School for Girls until she emigrated to the United States with her parents in 1976, where they settled in Houston, Texas. She continued to finish her high school and college education, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work/Psychology from Houston Baptist University.
Due to a congenital issue at birth, subsequent operations caused some physical impairment in her right arm and leg. Yet her optimistic personality and perseverance allowed her to function as any normal person would, obtaining her driver's license, college degree, and later a certificate in Health Information Management. She has worked as a counselor in several non-profit agencies and volunteered in hospitals.
She was gifted with a beautiful mezzo-soprano voice, with which she participated in the Houston Chinese Church Choir and New Hearts Music Ministries worship team. She took voice lessons from Mr. Lin Le Cheng, Ms. Betty Hu, and Pastor Ephraim Cheng.
Jean had a fondness and was gifted in arts and crafts. In her spare time she created speciality cards for patients in hospitals and for soldiers through a non-profit organization called Cards for Soldiers.
In the past 5 years, her trust in the Lord carried her through her battle with cancer. The good Lord ended her struggles and received her into His everlasting arms on December 18, 2022. She was 56. We shall forever miss her until we meet again in Heaven.
