Born on the 27th of January 1933, in Houston, Texas, to Mildred and Ed Mosher, Jean was a proud graduate of Lamar High School and the University of Texas where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, a membership she enjoyed throughout her life. Jean and her first husband, Tom Rowan, raised their three children in Karnes City and Victoria, Texas. In Karnes City, Jean was active in church, the kids' school and scouting and was instrumental in building the first public library and swimming pool in Karnes City. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Houston, where she started as a child.
Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Mosher and his wife Suzanne and their son, David; her son, Ed Rowan; her parents, Edward J. and Mildred S. Mosher; and her step-son-in-law, Tim Morrow; in-laws, Bill and Lois Kendall; and the father of her children, Tom Rowan. She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-seven years, Dick Kendall; daughters, Susan Rowan of Houston, and Fran Walter (Eric) of South Carolina; and step-daughters, Peggy Kendall (Jonathan Sheehan) of Nashville, and Susan Morrow (friend Don Johnson) of Houston; married grandchildren, Leigh Rowan ( Cody Sims), Chase Rowan (Ashley); married step-grandchild, Madeline Morrow (Jason Epstein); other grandchildren, Ed, Ethan, Allison and Olivia Walter; step-grandchildren, Camille Morrow and Valerie and Genevieve Sheehan; great-grandchildren, Dash and Storey Jean Rowan-Sims, Alyssa and Ranger Rowan; step-great-grandchild, Rex Epstein. Stephen's son Blake Mosher and wife Melanie also survive Jean. Their children, Elaina, Courtney, Andrea, Trent and Julie call Jean "Memaw".
Friends are cordially invited to greet the family during a visitation from five o'clock in the afternoon until seven o'clock in the evening on Friday, the 15th of January, in the library and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Following a private burial at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, the family will again receive friends in the grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons beginning at half-past ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 16th of January, 2016. A Memorial Service is scheduled to commence at half-past eleven o'clock in the morning in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
