Janie Lin Ordaz, 68, a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and friend was called to heaven on March 4, 2017. Janie was born January 19, 1949 to Mary Luz Rodriguez and Bing Ling Gee in Houston, Texas. Growing up, Janie was far from a rule breaker. She was straight-laced, respectful, quiet, and serious. She was the peacemaker in the family, but could deliver a fierce “pinch and twist” to put her brothers and sister in line. Janie met and fell in love with Luis Ordaz Lopez. On August 3, 1975, they married and began building a life together, raising six children and sharing over 40 years of happiness. As a mother, Janie was kind, selfless, affectionate, understanding and patient. The most important part of her life was her family whom she loved unconditionally. Janie graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in education. She was a nurturer and teacher at heart. She spent 31 years as a teacher at Peter Janowski Elementary. Even after she retired, she never stopped teaching her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. During her last years, Janie showed great compassion devoting her time caring for her husband and mother. She showed courage and strength throughout her life even while facing her own illness. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Luz Rodriguez and Bing Ling Gee, her husband Luis Ordaz, and her brothers; Edward Gee, Jimmy Gee, and Raymond Gee. Left behind to cherish her memory are her children; Victoria Macias and husband Raul, Juan Ordaz and wife Monica, Veronica Ordaz, Luis Ordaz and wife Valerie, Vanessa Ordaz, and Viviana Solis and husband Eri. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Naomi, Matthew, Isaac, Cecilia, Alyssa, Sophia, Luis, Ezra, Isabelle, and Natalia, her sister, Josie Aguilar and husband Mario, her brother, Marcos Perez, and countless other family members and friends. She was well-loved and respected by all and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 5-9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church located at 501 Tidwell Rd. in Houston. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
