peace at her residence surrounded by family. She was born on March 6, 1928, daughter to
Conception Juarez Varela and Jose Cedillo Varela. Janie is leaving behind two surviving
siblings, Dr. Louis E. Varela and a sister Socorro Hinojosa.
Janie was a loving mother, wife, and sister toward her family including her late husband Richard
Del Toro Jimenez, brother Tony Varela, and daughter Jeanette Martinez whom she has gone on
to reunite with in heaven. Along with being blessed with 10 great grandchildren, she is also
survived by one son Richard Jimenez; daughter-in-law Nora Jimenez; grandsons Ricky Jr. and
Jason Jimenez; son-in-law Randy Martinez; grandson Casey Martinez; three daughters; eldest
Betty West; grandsons Dorian, Stephen and Ryan West; son-in-law Deacon Ray West;
daughter Mary Gloria Rodriguez; grandsons Brian and Luis Cisneros; and youngest daughter
Carol Eureste; grandsons Jesse Jr. and Adam Eureste; granddaughter Mistylyn Eureste; son-inlaw
Jesse Eureste. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends who will
sadly miss her.
A dedicated wife, avid follower of Jesus Christ, and member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
She enjoyed music, social gatherings, volunteering and performing various church duties, and
spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. In later years Janie was often found
praying and reading the Bible, cooking delicious meals for her family and guests, laughing, and
reflecting the love of Jesus Christ with encouraging words.
A visitation for Janie will be held Monday, January 24, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm at
Funerary Del Angel Crespo Navigation, 2516 Navigation Blvd, Houston, Tx 77003. A rosary
service will occur Monday, January 24, 2022 from 7:00 pm, 2516 Navigation Blvd,
Houston, Tx 77003. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 11:00 am to
12:00 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3006 Kashmere St., Houston Tx 77026. A committal
service will occur Tuesday, January 25, 2022 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Historic Hollywood
Cemetery, 3506 N. Main St. Houston, Tx 77009.
