Janice Lynn Ivey, age 68, was welcomed into heaven by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, May 8, 2015. She was surrounded by family and close friends. Janice was born on December 7, 1946 in Houston, Texas where she resided and raised her three children. She married her high school sweetheart, Roger Ivey, June 12, 1964 and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Janice worked for a private attorney, W.H. Bill Jordan, Jr. for the last 16 years. She was an active member in her church, a member of the Channelview quilting guild, served as President on the River Run Home Owners Association, and was elected Republican Chairman for Precinct 353. Janice loved to design and sew quilts for family and friends. She also looked forward to each spring when she could grow a beautiful garden. She is preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Edna Young Melnick; and grandson, Richard Harrington. She is survived by: Husband, Roger D. Ivey; Children: Rhonda Bell and husband, Steve, Dale Ivey and wife, Jennifer, and Renee Frank and husband, Jerry; Grandchildren: Steven and Amanda Harrington, Justin and Enemory Harrington, Jessica, Trey, and Dylan Ivey, and Kate and Kiley Frank; Great Grandchildren: Cory Harrington and Kylee Robins; Sisters: Charlene Favorite and husband, Robert, and Shirley Kelly and husband, Dan; Mother-in-law, JoNell Ivey; Sisters-in-Law: Marilyn Kay Ivey and Terrie Kilgore; along with numerous nieces, nephews, close relative and friends. There will be a viewing on Monday, May 11, at Brookside Funeral Home from 5-7:30 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 12, at 10 a.m., at Victory Temple Church of God, located 14203 Wallisville Road, Houston 77049.
