Janice Elaine Burg passed away November 12, 2017 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born December 10, 1936 in Denver, Colorado to Frank and Dorothy Jamison. She attended Graland Country Day school and East High School and ventured across the country to attend the University of Missouri, where she graduated with a journalism degree in 1959. She married George Birks and moved to Houston, TX in 1960 and had two children, Elizabeth and Michael. She used her journalism degree in many forms working for The Kinkaid School, Downtown Houston Association and Houston Symphony. She later married Frank Burg, the love of her life. She was an avid reader, bridge player and loved to work crossword puzzles. Frank and Janice traveled and attended an array of activities for all of their combined Grandchildren. She was a 50-year member of The Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and was proud to share the sisterhood with her mother and both granddaughters. After Frank’s passing, she moved to Fort Smith.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Lange (Will) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Mike Birks (Diana) of Tyler, Texas; her grandchildren, Alexandra and Olivia Lange, and Kindrah and Terrah Lampin; her sister Linda Horton (Howard) of Palisade, Colorado; nieces and nephews, Kari Way, Kristi Green and Kameron Dole, all of Colorado; stepchildren, Jimmy, Robert, David and Joan all of Houston; and many, many step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services will be at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77024, Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 10:00am.
