Janet Jones, ‘Lizbeth’ was born August 4, 1956, to Bessie Bell Harris and Horace Paul Washington Sr. in Houston, TX. She attended schools in the Houston School District – Rosa Lee Easter Elementary and Terrel Middle School. Janet’s ingenious prompted acceleration leading up to graduating at the age of 16 from Kashmere High School in 1972. She later received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2016.
Janet incorporated Christ at an early age being a faithful member of Palm Lane C.O.G.I.C until 1988. She was ordained as a minister and touched all that she met with the love of Jesus Christ.
In 1972, she married Fredrick Wayne Jones Sr. and to this union was born Latissua Jones (Tee), Tametra Jones (Meme), and Fredrick Jones Jr. (Boonie J).
Her professional career begins at Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1975 thru 1986, when she then transitioned in her career choice to work for Damon Wells -giving her the flexibility to incorporate evangelism, philanthropic endeavors, youth counseling and recovery, and humanitarian efforts. Janet’s love and outreach brought her recognition as many troubled youths turned from addictive behaviors to live a productive life style.
Janet’s entrepreneur endeavors included opening University Park Academy Humble -a school for those seeking high school diplomas. She was able to help many foreign students and adults obtain their education and move up in their careers.
The saying common among people who new and met Janet is, “We know that is one person without a doubt who is in Heaven”. Her spiritual life and personality resonated wherever she went. Many lives were changed throughout her ministry.
Janet Elizabeth Jones went home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2022, at 4 pm. She is preceded in death by her mother Bessie B. Harris, her father Horace Paul Washington Sr. her brothers Homa, Horace, Howard Turnell, and sister Emma.
Janet is survived by her 3 children Latissua, Tametra, Fredrick, 10 grandchildren, Darius, Tylond, Darion, Deadria, Bryndon, Dominic, Trynt, Kyrsten, D’Nea, and Chrystian, 3 great-grandchildren Neveah, Ra’Niya and, Kaihryn. God daughter Charissa Cockburn. Sisters: Mattie, Viola, Maple, Helen, Lucille, Juanita, Retha, Helene, Bessie, Debra one brother Bill and a plethora of nieces and nephews, relatives and close friends.
