Janet Miller Hock

Janet Miller Hock was born Janet Louise Miller on September 30, 1949 to Helen Troxell and Richard L. Miller in New Orleans, Louisiana. She peacefully passed away at her home after a lengthy hard fought illness on September 22, 2024. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Janice Checki, as well as her in-laws, Dorothy and Benjamin A. Hock, Sr.

Janet grew up in Houston, Texas, graduating from Memorial High School. She then attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. While attending Southwestern, she was a cheerleader and member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. After graduation she married Benjamin A. Hock, Jr. on July 31, 1971. Janet taught junior high math for several years before retiring to become a full-time stay at home mother.

She will be sorely missed by her husband, Ben, of 53 years, daughter Rebecca Joines (Clint), son Benny and grandson Jake Joines. In addition, she is survived by her sisters-in-law Ruth Crouse and Patricia Schiller, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Some of the things Janet enjoyed most were her many pets, gardening, volunteering, cooking, entertaining, boating, family and friends. Janet was a Christian full of Southern hospitality.

A visitation for Janet will be held Friday, September 27, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX. Following the visitation will be a committal service from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX.
