JANET ELIZABETH GRAINGER passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019. Janet was born in Houston, Texas, on July 1, 1954, as the last of three children and only daughter of her parents, Oswald “Otto” and Arline Grainger. She graduated from Lee High School, and then Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in accounting. After a short time working for her father’s brick sales company, Janet spent 30 years as an accountant for Exxon-Mobil before retiring in 2010. Janet dedicated 25 years to devotedly caring for her mother, and she loved her family, friends, and dogs (not necessarily in that order!) fiercely.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her brothers, Bruce Grainger and Robert V. Grainger; aunts, Norma Annette Breen, Eleanor Grainger, Elizabeth “Peg” Thompson; and uncles, Vincent Grainger, Jr., Robert L. Grainger, and Numa David. Janet is survived by her nieces, Shawn Grainger-Henners and Erin Grainger; great-nephews, Robert M. Grainger and Raphael Henners-Grainger; great-nieces, Ana Henners-Grainger and Scarlet Croon; sister-in-law, Terri Morgan; aunts, Beth Ingram, Brenda Smith, and Becky Parks; and many cousins.
A celebration of life and interment will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas, 77077. A reception will be held at the funeral home immediately following the interment.
