She was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 30, 1945. She was married to Monroe J Donath, Jr on December 10, 1966, until his death in 2004.
Janet had a lengthy career in health care. She started as a hospital corpsman in the US Navy in 1963, assigned to Main Navy Dispensary in Washington, D.C. She then obtained her LVN in 1979, her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1982, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1990, and finally her MBA in Healthcare in 1997.
She primarily worked for non-profit organizations, in rural healthcare, home health, and hospice. Her longest tenure was as the Executive Director of Good Neighbor Healthcare Center in the Fourth Ward in Houston from 1998 until 2014.
She was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Houston and American Legion Post 324 in Jersey Village for many years. She had a passion for Earl Grey Tea and Agatha Christie novels.
She is survived by her son and his fiancée Joseph Donath and Adriana Cardenas; her son and daughter-in-law James Donath and Brenda Trevino Donath; several grandchildren: Vincent Donath, Aldolfo Herrera Jr, Josef Donath, Jeffery Donath, and Jamie Donath; her sister and brother-in-law, Jean Roush and John Roush, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her viewing will be held at American Heritage Funeral Home on December 19, 2022. Funeral services will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church on December 20, 2022, at 11 am, with interment at Houston National Cemetery at 1 pm.
