It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jane Johnson Murray, PhD. Jane, 74, passed away at the Hermann Memorial Hospital in Katy, Texas on August 3, 2024 in the company of her husband, Daniel Murray.
Jane was born in Cranston Rhode Island on September 1, 1949 and lived in Somerset, Massachusetts through graduation from high school in 1967. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University in Boston and both a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
Jane’s professional life included teaching life sciences at Tulsa Community College and later Houston Community College (HCC). She retired from HCC during December 2011. As well as being an accomplished educator, Jane was a talented knitter, stained glass artist, gardener, and maker of desserts.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Bea Johnson and her brother Peter Johnson. Surviving Jane is her husband of 49 years, Daniel, their daughter Jennifer Yeung and two grandsons Walter and Edward along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
