Jane met the love of her life James Herring in Houston and married on July 16, 1946. She was a member of Woodmen of the World and had a passion for helping others at their time of need.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James W. Herring; sons, Glen Herring, and Greg Herring; father, Alvin Hartmann; mother, Nellie Hobbs; sisters Mary Carry, Josephine Moore, and Agnes Thomas; brothers, Alvin Hartman, and Jimmy Hartman; granddaughters, Ashley Mahanay, and Jennifer Sparks.
Jane is survived by her son, Robert Herring; daughter Melissa Mahanay (Bryant);brothers Otis Hartmann, Eddy Hartmann and his wife Babe; grandchildren, Angie Williams (Frank), Tabitha Sellers (Dewayne), Justin Herring, Michael Herring (Danalee), Lauren Hudson, Chelsy Norton, Travis Mahanay, and Hannah Miller; great grandchildren, Kelsey Simmons, Caleb Fitz Patrick, Elizabeth Gibbs, Ariana Gibbs, Baylee Gibbs, Roran Herring, Arya James, Raylea Herring, Hollee Tipton, Tyler Sims, Jacob Chastain, Brayleigh Phillips, and Easton Phillips; great-great grandchildren, Caiden Faulkner, Rayna Chastain, Carter Chastain, Emma Riley, Jack Hanks, Dante Nelms, Rafe Simmons, Ezra Simmons, and Dayna Gibbs; and daughters in law, Diana Herring, and Rachelle Herring.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service is scheduled to follow and begin promptly at 1:00 PM, in the Family Chapel at Brookside followed by burial at Brookside Memorial Park.
Servin, as pallbearers are Michael Herring, Justin Herring, Travis Mahanay, Michael Norton, Michael Golden, and Victor Golden. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Robert Herring, Tyler Sims and Caleb Fitz Patrick.
