Jane was born Jane Pharr Boone in Houston’s St. Joseph Hospital on July 29, 1937. Her parents, J.P. and Margaret P. Boone predecease her. Jane, along with her two sisters, Anne and Elaine, and her brother Paul, attended River Oaks Elementary, Lanier Junior High and Lamar High School in Houston. Jane graduated at Lamar with the class of 1955. She very much enjoyed her Lamar class reunions over the years, and kept in touch with several classmates, namely Cecile Wilson Lambert and Ann Suggs Ford.
Jane’s special love was music. She started voice lessons at age 12 and continued studying voice for many years. She sang in the church choir at Central Presbyterian Church for many years and later sang in the choir at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. Jane and her husband are currently members of St. Cuthbert Episcopal Church in West Houston.
After High School, Jane Attended North Texas University in Denton for one year and then transferred to Trinity University in San Antonio where she continued her voice studies with Mr. John Seegle and studied Elementary Education. She graduated from Trinity University in 1961 with a BS Degree in Elementary Education.
While at Trinity, she met her future husband, also a student there, Irve Allen Ellis. They married in Houston on July 28, 1961, and this past July 28, they couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
After their marriage, Jane and Irve moved to Roswell, New Mexico, his hometown, where they lived for about a year. Her husband then entered the U.S. Army and the couple lived in New Britain, Connecticut, and in Providence, Rhode Island for three years. In 1965, they moved to Houston where they have resided to the present.
Jane and Irve had no children, but they enjoyed their many nieces and nephews along with Jane’s sisters and her brother and many friends from church and Kiwanis. Her husband was a member of the Galleria Area Kiwanis Club for many years. This club had a twin club in Panama City, Panama, and the couple enjoyed visiting there for a week.
Jane is also predeceased by a nephew, Bill Crumpacker, and is survived by her husband, Irve, her sisters Anne Crumpacker of Conroe and Elaine Craig of New Braunfels, her brother, Paul of Austin, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patti and Bill Roberts of Roswell, NM, Deanne Clark of Lubbock, TX, Dianne Dumas of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Sue Farnsworth Bennett of Great Falls, VA, Dick Wyly of Alberta, Canada, and Elizabeth and Jeremy Hunt of London, U.K.
