James Edward Young Sr.

Jerry Young - James Edward Young Sr. of Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 1st, 2024 at the age of 85. Jerry was born on January 17th, 1939 in Marlin, Texas, where he grew up. He grew up in Hearne, Texas.

He was married to the love of his life Joyce Young on August 4th, 1967 and celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this past August.

He graduated from Sam Houston State University with a business degree in 1966. Jerry worked as Payroll Manager for Brown and Root Halliburton.

Jerry was actively involved in Veterans of the US Army and served overseas as Scoutmaster of Troop 1323, member and commissioner of Klein FD.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father and mother, Houston and Edith Young, and his sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Howell Brown.

He is survived by his children Jim Young and Jennifer Wall and their granddaughter Evelyn Rodgers.

The family would like to thank the staff at Houston Methodist Hospital for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at American Heritage Funeral Home 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr Houston TX 77038 on Friday, October 4th at 12:15. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:15.

Interment to follow at Houston National Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr Houston TX 77038.
