Jim graduated from Bellaire High School in 1967 and from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in economics in 1972. He was a superlative Landman, working in the oil industry for over 30 years, most recently at occidental petroleum. Jim earned his 4th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, loved fishing and surfing at his bay house and relaxed by working on his car. He enjoyed exercising his 2nd amendment right through sport and target shooting. More than anything, he enjoyed telling stories with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose Pearl and Eugene Frank Stautberg, Sr. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 33 years, Penelope Horton Stautberg; his son, James Claude Stautberg and wife Andrea; his two brothers, Eugene Frank Stautberg, Jr. and wife Kathy, Jon Mark Stautberg and wife Peggy; as well as niece and nephews Eugene, Sandra, Eric and David; and his faithful dog Omar the Magnificent.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from half-past five o’clock this afternoon until seven o’clock this evening, Friday, the 3rd of August, in the Church Office Parlor of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 3816 Bellaire Boulevard in Houston.
A memorial service is to be conducted at half-past four o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 4th of August, in the Chapel of the Church of St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Boulevard in Houston.
