James B. Simpson, Sr. died on January 21, 2013 in Houston, Texas. He was born on May 11, 1925 to James William Simpson and Rose Blanke Simpson and grew up in the Houston Heights. He attended All Saints Catholic School and graduated from Saint Thomas High School in 1942. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II and served in Guam and Okinawa. Jim spent 40 years in the mortgage banking business and retired from Benjamin Franklin Savings and Loan in 1992.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Joyce Cloudy Simpson; his parents; and his sisters Rosemary Budigig, Isabel Gardner, Margaret Simpson and Jean Quaglino. He is survived by his daughters Andrea Martinez and husband Mike, Mary Margaret Johnson and husband Reggie and Monica Buchtien and husband Michael; his son James B. Simpson, Jr. and wife Kimberly; his grandchildren Andy Martinez, Corby Martinez and wife Jennifer, Benjamin Johnson, Rachel Borne and husband Justin, Kasey Buchtien, Audrey Buchtien, Will Simpson and wife Ashley, Patrick Simpson and Stephen Simpson; and his six great grandchildren Will, Kate, Corby, Jr. and Mary Pete Martinez and Whitney and Ava Borne.
Jim loved nothing more than sitting at various ball fields, stadiums, stages and gyms watching his grandchildren. Pawpaw was always their biggest sons.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 9:00 am at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1618 Texas Avenue, Houston, Texas 77003. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas 77077.
