Chico was born in Washington, D.C., on the 15th of May 1947, to James B. Silman and Orval Ann Silman. He graduated from Spring Woods High School in Houston in 1965 and went on to attend the University of Houston, where he was part of the 1967 World Series runner-up baseball team. While attending the University of Houston, Chico met his beautiful wife Margaret Mary Mulvey. They were married on the 27th of January 1968.
Chico went on to serve a long and distinguished 26-year military career in the United States Army. Upon retirement from the military, Chico started his next career with Cumberland County, N.C. Upon retirement in North Carolina, he then returned to Houston to be closer to family.
Chico was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ann Silman of Houston. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Mary Silman of Seabrook, Texas; his two sons James B. Silman III and his fiancé Lanette R. Surface of Sterling, Kansas; and Patrick Christopher Silman of Coppell, Texas; his brothers, John B. Silman, MD and his wife Jo Anne of Kerrville; H. Edward Silman and his wife Cynthia Silman of San Antonio. In addition, he is survived by his loving grandchildren, Jude Silman and Emma Silman, and Jaiden Jaeger and Eli Jaeger.
A Mass of Christian burial is to be offered at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 4th of February, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston, where Rev. Leon Strieder will celebrate.
The Rite of Committal will immediately follow, via escorted cortege, at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
