James Thomas Muska Sr.

Jim Muska has gone home to Jesus after passing peacefully at home on January 30, 2025 at the age of 82.

He was born October 13, 1942 in Hallettsville, Texas to Emil and Eda Muska. He attended Hallettsville High School where he starred on the football and golf teams and is still affectionately remembered by his classmates.

He graduated from North Texas University in 1964 just in time to answer his country’s call to the Army. After being discharged, he met the love of his life, Patricia, and they were married August 19, 1967. He was recalled to the Army in 1968 and served his tour in Vietnam. While he did not speak of his time in the Army often, he was extremely proud to have served his country.

After being discharged in 1969, Jim and Patricia settled in Houston where he pursued a career in Healthcare Administration. In 1970, they started a family. They were blessed with three sons: Jim, Jon, and Chad. These sons blessed them with three daughters-in-law: Bonnie, Suzann, and Brianna. These daughters-in-law blessed them with seven grandchildren (so far): Truman, Kennedy, Grace, Kirsten, Kampbell, Madeleine, and Kuinn. Jim often bragged that he may not have had daughters of his own, but he hit the lottery on daughters-in-law.

Jim and Patricia moved to Sugar Land in 1980, where they are members of Sugar Land Methodist Church. Jim loved golf, deer hunting, fishing and his men’s Bible study. He especially loved seeing the world with Patricia. Their travels included many countries in Europe, as well as Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

He was preceded in passing by his parents, his older brother David and his younger brother Donnie. He is survived by his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sister, Carol, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

His ashes will be interred at the National Cemetery in Houston, Texas and he will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

A memorial service will occur Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Sugar Land Methodist Church, 431 Eldridge Rd., Sugar Land, TX 77478.
