James Elgin Mouton was born on February 20, 1945 in Houston, Texas. He was the son of John Percy Mouton Sr. and Wilda Page Mouton. He was baptized and attended St. Monica Catholic Church where he served as altar boy. He graduated from Carver High School. Shortly after graduation, he was inducted into the United States Army on September 30, 1965 where he served for several years. He soon earned the rank of Sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal for sharp shooter rifle. He worked for Fleming's Foods and retired after fifteen years.
On July 24, 1970 he was united in marriage to Ruby Jean Henderson. James was a devoted husband and father who is leaving his memories to be cherished by his wife Ruby J. Mouton, son Kollen J. Mouton (Latricia Mouton), daughter Brandi J. Mouton, two brothers, John Percy Mouton Jr. (Jackie Mouton), Steve Allen Mouton (Joyce Mouton), one sister, Jacqueline Mouton Reynolds (Marcus Reynolds), four grandchildren, Marlon Mouton (Jelena Mouton), Brandon Mouton (Crystal Mouton), Brianna Mouton, and Kahleb Mouton, two great grandchildren, Layla Lee, Emma Mouton and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. James was preceded in death by his parents, John and Wilda Mouton, two sisters, Cheryl Maxwell Mouton and Sandra Harris Mouton.
