He was born in Galveston, Texas on September 2, 1952. Jim graduated from Ross Sterling High School. Jim married his loving wife Kathie on June 28, 1975.
Jim had a career in technology, was the owner of Tri-City TV & Video, and also worked for Clear Creek ISD. Jim loved to spend time with his family, and had a passion for fishing.
Jim is preceded in passing by his sister Judy Courtney. He is survived by his wife Kathie Mattes, his daughter Krissi Zapalac and her husband William. His grandson Eli Perez, his brothers; Arthur Mattes and wife Debbie, Wesley Mattes, and sister Betty Cooper.
A graveside service for Jim will be held Monday, October 24, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
