Jim was born on the 13th of September 1948, in Houston, Texas to Betty Boyles Isbell and Jack Donovan Isbell.
He attended The Kinkaid School, graduated from Memorial High School, and received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting degree from The University of Houston.
A proud American, Jim served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Marathon Manufacturing Corporation. After moving to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1980, Jim opened a retail business and operated it until his death.
Jim was an avid sportsman throughout his life. His love of sports began at an early age, and he excelled at baseball and football. He was known for his amazing recall of sports facts and statistics. Jim's zest for life and his fun-loving personality will be greatly missed.
Jim was predeceased by his father and his brother, Jack D. Isbell II. He is survived by his loving mother, his wife Jean Miley Isbell, his brother Howard P. Isbell and wife Marlene. He is fondly remembered by his nieces, Alisa Ahrens and husband James, Courtney Nelson and husband Slade, and Christan Isbell, and by his nephews, Jack Isbell, III and wife Autumn, and Matthew Isbell, as well as dear cousins and friends.
A memorial service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 5th of February, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 1015 Holman Street in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the adjacent fellowship hall.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that contributions in Jim's name be directed to Trinity Episcopal Church, 1015 Holman Street, Houston, TX, 77004; or the charity of your choice.
