James David Hallbeck of Cypress Texas, passed away on Valentine’s Day evening, February 14th, 2022. His life began 50 years ago up in the Northeast corner of Texas, in a small town by the name of Lufkin. He was a Christmas gift having been born on Christmas Day, December 25th, 1971. Three years later, James’s fate and good fortune brought him down to Houston, and into the Hallbeck family.
James graduated from Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas in 1990 and went on to get his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University in 1997. A few years later he decided to go back to Sam Houston and earn both his undergraduate as well as his master’s degree in Business Administration.
James met his wife Brandy in October of 1998, and they went on to get married less than two years later, on March 18th, 2000. James and Brandy would have celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary this past March.
During his adult life and throughout his marriage, James worked in three very diverse industries. The first industry was homebuilding. James had just begun his career in homebuilding when Brandy and him first met, and for the next 12 years, he would go on to work with several different builders, striving to perfect his trade. James ultimately established both his own custom home building company as well as his own remodeling business before deciding to switch gears and move into the medical field. James worked as a medical device sales representative for the next three years. Having some success but still feeling somewhat unchallenged, he decided to transition career fields yet again. This time, James ended up in the Oil and Gas industry and from 2013 on, found his calling and his passion (somewhat like his grandfather and great uncle – Johnny and George Mitchell – did in the late 1960’s when they developed what would become known as Mitchell Energy). In this industry, James was always meeting new people (several of which would eventually become close friends) and continuously learning new things (keeping him both interested and challenged). James was fortunate to experience success, receive accolades, and vastly expand his skillset in this field over the next 8+ years, and what would ultimately come to be the remainder of his life.
James is survived by his wife Brandy and his four children: Jordan, Tanner, Kendall and Ryan. He is also survived by his four siblings: Tim Hallbeck (his brother) and his three sisters; Terry, Tracy & Tricia. Also surviving James are his Aunt Patty & his Uncle Johnny.
James was a “larger-than-life” person who lived a lifetime in his 50 years here on Earth. He touched people wherever he went and almost always left a lasting impression. For those who knew James, I believe most would agree that his two most prevalent features were his huge, radiant smile and his infectious laugh - both of which will be difficult to soon forget. He will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life for James will be held on Saturday April 30th 2022 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Mo's Irish Pub in the vintage park area. Address 138 Vintage Park Blvd. Houston, Texas 77070, Phone number 281-251-0715.
