James Barnard Davis was born on September 9, 1964, in Houston, Texas, to Lillian and the late Murry Davis. He departed this life on December 27, 2018. James accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He was educated in Houston Independent School District and Aldine Independent School District. After graduating from high school, James attend college at Texas State University ( Southwest Texas State) in San Marcos, Texas in which he received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree, majoring in Art Education. James Barnard became an outstanding educator, teaching at Wilson Intermediate School in Aldine Independent School District from 1992-2002, and in Katy Independent School District from 2002-2018. During his 28 years of teaching, he sponsored art clubs, mentored boy’s clubs, and sponsored high school senior classes. He taught 5th through 6th grades, and high school art. James was preceded in death by his father, Murry Davis, his nephew and godson, Jerry (Jay) Tanksley, Jr., and aunt, Yvonne Canton. James is survived by his mother, Lillian Davis, brother, Thaddeus, sister, Virginia Tanksley, aunt, Lillian R. Hines, godson, Brandon Wilson, ( Keshia), and three grand children, Caiden, Landon, and Zoe.
