James Lewis Davis was born in Houston, Texas on December 29, 1943. He passed from this life on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the age of 78. Jim grew up in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Bellaire High School and attained an associate’s degree from Houston Community College. Jim had a long-term career and retired from Merichem Chemical Corporation where he worked closely with the shipping industry in a supervisory position.
For many years, Jim attended Glenn Rose Baptist Church where he formed many life-long friendships. Thereafter he was a long-time member of Champions Forest Baptist Church. He had a servant’s heart and regularly worked with a local food pantry. Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed these activities along with the fellowship of other sportsmen. He was a caretaker and lovingly looked after until their passing his mother, his aunt, and his beloved wife.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Largent Davis; mother, Catherine Davis, and aunt, Ruth Nell Minster Keese.
He is survived by his sister, Marianne Timmerman (Tim); niece, Tricia Leigh Underwood (Jonathan); nephew, Timothy Timmerman Jr. (Anne Marie); stepdaughters, Patricia Patrick Rigdon (Kevin) and Barbara Majors Nagji (Iqbal); granddaughter, Tara Jayn; grandson, Justin Majors (Amy); great grandsons, Rory Majors and Ryder Majors; grandnephews Jordan, Cameron, Timothy III, Peyton, and Tristan; grandniece, Zoe.
A funeral service for Jim will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. Immediately following the funeral service will be a graveside service at Brookside Memorial Park. For those whom are unable to attend you may be able to join via Facebook live from Brookside Funeral Home Facebook page.
