John 3:16 On May 2, 1951 James Earl Cossey was born to the union of Lucy Cossey and Percy Blackshear in Houston, Texas. He was the baby boy of six children. At an early age he attended Pilgrim Branch Missionary Baptist Church. He later attended Korhville Elementary and Klein High School. Perk began his career as an OTR Truck Driver for Lionie Green, Sr. and Oakie Trucking for many years. He later pursued a career as Truck Driver for the United States Postal Service. On October 27, 2004 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Rose Mary Watkins of Bogalusa, Louisiana. He worked diligently for 17 years for the United States Postal Service. Upon retiring, he enjoyed Pig Farming, playing dominoes, interacting with family and friends and playing his numbers. Perk's memories will be forever cherished by his wife Rose Cossey; three daughters Shanda Breedlove, Tangenica Carter (Gerald) and Sharita Gibson; one son DeWayne Cossey (who resides in California); daughter by marriage, Dawn Harris; twelve grandchildren Trevon, Eric, Ashley, Anthony Breedlove, Ushante, Kyle, Corey, Undraquetta, Anthony Gibson, Aurora, A'more and Coy; two great grandchildren Germani and Javion; goddaughter Brenda Washington and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Lucy Cossey; father Percy Blackshear; sisters Earnestine Woodard and Helen Whitfield; brother Issac Blanton; nephew Alton Whitfield and niece Patricia Blanton. Services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Pilgrim Branch Baptist Church 16813 Hufsmith Kohrville Rd., Houston, Texas 77070.
