James (Jim) Nelson Cook, 76, of Houston, Texas, went to be with our Lord in Heaven on Wednesday, May 09, 2018. Jim was born to Allie B. Cook, and Helen Louise Young, April 07, 1942 in Garden City, Texas.
He graduated from Odessa High School and received his degree from Texas Tech University. Jim was a CPA with Quaintance and Cook Accounting Firm until he retired in 2006.
Jim was a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and was very talented with woodworking. He made many beautiful things for the family.
Jim is preceded in death by two of his children: John Michael Cook and Mary Jennifer Cook. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Cook. He is also survived by his son, Jimmy Cook married to Vicki Cook. His sisters, Barbara Coats married to Danny Coats and Connie Medley. His step children: Chuck Peterson married to Nancy Peterson, Duane Peterson, Michelle Barron married to Stephen Barron, and Sharon Richards married to Randy Richards. Jim and Charlotte have 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Services will be held at Forest Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The American Lung Association, The Houston Humane Society or to the Charity of your choice.
