James Cantrell of League City, Tx passed away on November 10th at the age of 84, after bravely battling an illness for more than three years. He was born on November 4, 1940 in Knoxville, Tennessee. After serving in the United States Marine Corps he moved to Texas where he met the love of his life, Dorothy, and they married on Valentine’s Day in 1964.
He worked several jobs until he settled into his calling as an electronic technician. He excelled in this position and subsequently he and his wife, Dorothy, opened Meters & Instruments Corporation in 1971. He was a successful business owner until he retired in 1990.
During his time as owner of Meters & Instruments he won many awards for sales. The awards included trips to locations such as Jamaica, London, Japan, China, Singapore, Hawaii and Saint Martin Island.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and boating. He was an all around adventure seeker. The most enduring was that Jim always wanted his family with him to make unforgettable memories.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughters Jean (Tony Solet), Cheryl (Kristy Cantrell), Debbie (Sonia West) and the light of his life his granddaughter Abagail (Abby) Solet.
Family and friends are invited to attend a service at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery on Wednesday, November 20th , at 11:00 am. Visitation with family will begin at 10:00 am. before the service, Reception to follow at Esteban’s Cafe and Cantina at 402 West Main Street, League City, 77573.
