James Michael (Bubba) Butera, Jr.

James Michael (Bubba) Butera, Jr. was a loving peaceful, patient, kind, faithful and caring brother, uncle, friend and child of God. After a prolonged debilitating illness, Bubba entered into eternal rest with God through his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 75 on February 10, 2016.

Bubba was born on February 28, 1940 at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas; the first precious son of Dr. James M. and Josephine (Geaccone) Butera. Bubba is preceded in death by his father and mother; his baby sister, Angela Butera; niece, Gina Louise Maida and great –niece Bella Camarata. Bubba is survived by his brothers, Joseph Butera and wife, Vivian; Michael Butera and Paul Butera; his sisters, Louise Maida and husband, John L., Rosalie Smith and husband, Calvin, Marian Camarata and husband, Emmanuel. Bubba is also survived by many deeply loved nieces and nephews and their children and his God-Children.

Bubba was baptized into Christ, received his first communion and confirmed in the Holy Spirit at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bubba graduated from St. Thomas High School and attended the University of Houston. He studied mechanical environmental systems and became a Licensed Stationary Engineer. His career was in engineering administration and building maintenance supervision. Bubba also honorably served in the United States Army Reserves.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 9:00am to 10:00am at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. A memorial Service will begin at 10:00am with a Rite of Committal following at 11:00am. Services will be officiated by Deacon Corney Llorens of St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church.

Pallbearers will be his nephews John L. Maida, Jr., James Maida, Jason Maida, Jesse Smith, Elihu Smith, Philip Camarata, Benjamin Camarata, and Jared Camarata. Honorary Pallbearers will be Adam Butera, Christian Costlow and Israel Carberry. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas High School 4500 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77007 or a charity of your choice.
