To the Family of Jackie Reznicek Marek

Dear daughters Debbie and Gina and Sister Jean

Today Tuesday, June 26, 2012 the Houston Chronicle advised us of the death of a dear friend member of the Czech Center Museum Houston since February 1995 the beautiful Jackie Marek.

She and her husband, your dad Bennie, were our impetus for establishing CCMH, one of Houston's fine museums in the Museum District.

We shall never forget their invitation to join them for a first for us Czech Heritage Meeting in Hillje, Texas at the local VFW Hall where we met for the first time 250 bonafide Czechs.  We shall never forget the spirit of these two sweet, brilliant and wonderful persons, good supporters until their health would not allow them.  

Every letter or communication included â€œLove and thank you for what you are doing.â€

We are all better persons to have had the privilege to know them.  We will make a donation to the Czech Center Museum Houston in their memory.

Our hearts hurt with you.  God's blessings for you all.

Deepest sympathy to Debbie, Gina and all the family.  Your Mom, like your Dad, was special to us here in Snook.  To think they'd drive all the way from Houston here to Snook to join us for our Sr. Citizen Social says a lot about them and their love for family and friends.  Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.  "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths" (Prov. 3:5-6).

I am so very sorry to learn of the passing of Jackie Reznicek Marek; I met her some years ago when I began researching my mothers family and she was such a great help and inspiration to me.  Though I never met her face to face it mattered not; she was family on the Dusek side and she and my mother had a lot in common.  She is one of the last of the generation that had deep ties in the Texas Czech community and her inspiration and knowledge of family and customs was second to none. She left a great legacy and example for all of us to follow and I am forever grateful for it.  She is at peace now and no more sickness or pain and I am glad for that.  Godspeed Jackie and thank you for all you have done for so many.  Finally you and my mother will get to meet and compare notes.  God bless you!

I want to express my sincere sympathy to Jackie's family.  I met her over 10 years ago.  Of course, it was through our mutual interest in researching our Czech heritage. Jackie was a very special lady, always there to help and share.  She was one of the first people to help me when I first started into researching, and boy did she open up so many of my brick walls.  We have kept in contact ever since.  After all, we are 6th cousins. I will dearly miss her, but I know she is now in a better place.
